FLOOR PLAN

Approach

The need for the service was based on the existing and forecasted numbers of cyclists in the city by the council. Whilst the institution was developing cycling lanes and encouraging active transport, there was a clear absence of repair or servicing provisions.

After scouting for locations I identified a suitable location by a main cycle way in a busy plaza. Ideal for customers to book their service whilst working or running errands. By installing a 24hr tyre pump outside for anyone to use it would aid in creating a destination point for cycling repair.

Giving thought to the actions of a bicycle I tried to reflect that movement in the building.

Solution

A fast repair and accessory shop for bicycles. The structure is designed to move on rails depending on the schedule and weather. Folding awnings compliment the structure and can be adapted for all conditions. To generate curiosity from passersby, sections of the workshop are deliberately transparent
